R.I.P. Dodger: 2006—2013
Dodger died in my arms this afternoon. He was chasing a squirrel on campus alongside a building and was going so hard and fast that when he reached a jut in the wall, he hit it full force, which, if you ever saw him run, you know is a lot. The impact broke his neck and he died within a few minutes.

This makes me so, so sad, John. I know he was such a family member to you … and to so many at Davidson. Everyone knew and loved Dodger!
My heart is breaking for you – he was a beautiful dog and you had a beautiful friendship.
John, I don’t know what to say…I am heartbroken for you. You’re in my thoughts and prayers. Love – Becca
We’re all thinking about you! He loved you so much. Just look at that happy face and those happy ears in your blog header. Dodger will always be in our hearts and brings smiles to our faces.
Oh John! We are all devastated to lose Dodger. He was a necessary part of ColCom and I know I’ll especially miss him scurrying up the stairs to look out of my window. We love you both.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Dogs are special friends, and Dodger was especially beautiful and full of spirit. He had just about the best life a dog can have, and it is so poignant that he went out in a blaze, doing what he loved most.
You were the very best companion to him, John. Davidson won’t be Davidson without Dodger. Thanks for sharing him with the community.
My Friend, John,
I am so sad for you. I know what a tremendous loss it is but I hope you will forever remember the joy of Dodger’s furious squirrel chases.
All my best,
Ed
Oh John, I’m so sorry. We’ll really miss Dodger around here. He was such a fine dog..
So sorry to hear this, John.
